WELCOME TO THE 6th EFFAT CONGRESS

Registration to Speak

There will be three main sessions where Congress delegates and deputy delegates will be entitled to speak (no observers).

These sessions correspond to the three priorities of our EFFAT Draft Political Vision 2025 – 2029: EN – FR – DE.

Priority 1: Fighting Forward: For People and the Planet

27 November: 4pm – 6.30pm

This session has the ambition to define EFFAT’s vision on important global challenges ahead, from growing inequalities to climate change and growing geopolitical tensions. More specifically, and in line with the subtitles of our political vision document, the subjects to be discussed during this session include:

  • Forward for Sustainable Food Systems against Corporate Greed
  • Addressing the Climate Crisis and Achieving a Truly Just Transition
  • Sustainable Use of Water Resources
  • Sustainable Tourism
  • Trade Agreements
  • Forward towards a Peaceful and Secure Future

Priority 2: Fighting Forward: For a Fair Europe for Workers

28 November: 9am – 11.30am

This session aims to define EFFAT’s political vision on the future of Europe, including but not limited to EFFAT’s work towards the EU institutions in a more complex political context. More specifically, and in line with the subtitles of our political vision document, the issues to be discussed during this session include:

  • A Social Europe to Combat Nationalism and the Far Right
  • Improve Terms and Conditions through Strong Collective Bargaining
  • Fighting Precarious Work and Ensuring Good Working Conditions on Digital Platforms
  • Addressing Labour and Skills Shortages
  • Forward for an Improved European Sectoral Social Dialogue
  • Fair Labour Mobility and Migration
  • Fair Working Conditions across Subcontracting Chains and Regulated Labour Intermediaries
  • Towards a Fairer Common Agricultural Policy
  • Protecting Worker Health & Safety and Reducing Working Time
  • Securing Dignity and Respect for Domestic Workers
  • A Holistic Approach to Gender Equality, Fighting Violence and Harassment

Priority 3: Fighting Forward: For a Strong EFFAT

28 November: 2.30pm – 4.30pm

This session aims to define EFFAT’s political vision for the future of EFFAT and the trade union movement. How can we build trade union power in EFFAT’s sectors? How should we change? How can we strengthen transnational solidarity?  More specifically, and in line with the subtitles of our political vision document, the issues to be discussed during this session include:

  • Trade Union Renewal is Vital to Ensure a Better Europe for Workers
  • Reinforce Work in Transnational Companies and European Works Councils
  • Strong Advocacy Work and Communication
  • Empower and Organise Young Workers
  • Fight for an Equal and Inclusive Society
  • Strengthen Affiliates in Central-East, South-East, and Eastern Europe
  • Moving Forward with the EU Enlargement Process
 Deadline to register to speak for this session: 19h30 (7:30PM) – Wednesday, 27 November (same as Priority 2) 

 

Motions and Resolutions (including emergency resolutions)

  • Submitted motions and resolutions will be presented on 27 November at 2:30PM under the session entitled Introduction of the Political Framework Documents.
  • Emergency resolutions can be submitted until 27 November at 7:30PM.
  • All submitted motions and resolutions including emergency resolutions will be discussed and adopted on 28 November at 5PM.
  • Colleagues wishing to intervene on a motion or resolution will be able to do so directly at Congress by registering at a specific desk that will be identified during Congress.

How long shall I speak at Congress?
How many delegates from my organisation are entitled to intervene?

  • Interventions during the three sessions (priority 1, 2 and 3) shall not exceed 3 minutes. Interventions on motions and resolutions, including emergency resolutions, will also be limited to 3 minutes. Comments on proposed resolutions will be limited to 2 minutes.
  • The Presidium will be ensuring that speaking time is respected. The Presidium has the right to reduce or extend speaking time depending on the number of speakers registered for each session.
  • Only Delegates and Deputy Delegates are entitled to speak at Congress. The same colleague should not speak more than once during the same session. No more than 2 colleagues from the same organisation are entitled to speak during each session.
  • The Presidium has the right to intervene on the list of speakers in order to ensure the widest possible participation in Congress.
